Our almost-Pandan-Island-vacation

IMG_0616 We had a great vacation to Pandan Island planned with our friends CIMG0976and their kids (5 families, 12 kids)...it had been  hard and quite fortuitous to organize our schedules and get hotel and flight booked for everyone...but it wasn't meant to be! Cyclone Crising came through the Philippines and our flight was finally canceled after hours of hanging out at the airport...we were bummed but determined to have a good time, so we organized a fun weekend together! We had pizza and drinks at the Lindqvists' to celebrate getting out of the airport, the kids had a campout, a birthday celebration and a day at Splash Island, the dads a day of golf and a jam session, and the moms dinner and mahjong....we certainly made up for the disappointment! All pictures are HERE

Trip to Club Paradise, Coron, Palawan

IMG_9974 For Holy Week we headed to Club Paradise in Coron, Palawan...yet another unbelievably beautiful tropical island. This vacation was an anomaly for us: 6 days at the same IMG_0303_edited-1 beach, same hotel...we really just wanted to take it easy and we did! We swam, we dove, we snorkeled and saw lots of sting rays and huge turtles, we ate a ton and squeezed in some spa treatments too! The photo album is HERE and i promise there were other people at the resort, though it doesn't look like it!

The long-awaited March recap!

Let's see...March marked the end of the school year in the Philippines and the Sportsfest at school. Nonna was IMG_9385 with us most of the month and we had a great time hanging out. We took Owen and Caroline to their first concert: Red Jumpsuit Apparatus (free at the mall), we went bowling and to the driving range. We celebrated Nicki's and Jim's birthdays with a great party and Jean and Marion's at the laser tag. We went to the MADS Easter Egg hunt, finally welcomed the Beuerles' baby Grace at the end of the month and celebrated with a shower at our house. The big ALIG ball (007 theme) was a blast too (though I went solo as Michael went to Hong Kong for the HK Sevens...poor guy!)... as usual, all the pictures you ever wanted to see (and more!) can be found here: March 2009 Photo Album.

I wasn't lying

when I said Caroline has grown up a lot in the Philippines...

when she started Little Gym, over 3 years ago....and now, on her very last day of class there :(

It's time

P1010120 Our time in the Philippines is coming to an end...Michael's new job will take us to Beijing in August....of course we knew we couldn't stay here forever, but now it's reality and it's hard to deal with it. We are definitely excited about our future adventures in China, but right now we are still mourning the loss of our life in the Philippines. A life we couldn't enjoy more! We came when Caroline was 2 years old, so this is all she knows, her life is here: when we are traveling and people ask her where she's from: "The Philippines!" (causing giggles!)...this is the longest Michael and I have ever lived in any house together...this is where Owen started school, lost his first tooth, had his First Communion, played a dozen sports and met a ton of friends along the way...this is where our "bunso" Patrick was born, the best, most amazing birth I could hope for....this is where I have my business, an awesome house and lots of good, real friends and parties, and events, and coffee mornings, and shopping tours...and, of course, the household staff!....all of this just a few hours away from some of the world's best beaches...

We have a few months to do everything we have left to do and see what we still need to see and to be able to close this chapter in our life and start to look ahead...

(The picture shows the kids 3+years ago, when we first got here...they're ve grown quite a bit in the Phils.!)
