We are very, very sad abot leaving the Philippines…it’s home! But we are excited about our new life in China….it will be new, different and exciting…because Xanga is blocked in China, my blog has to move!

  1. Caroline and I were getting ready to play hair salon and she asked : Mama, do you have kuto?

  2.  Patrick's first words 'wala na' (accompanied by hand gesture)

  3. The kids ask: What is ‘chores’?

Patrick (overdue) Update

IMG_1912 I have been offline for a while (we’re in Italy and my laptop is broken!)  and Patrick’s 1st birthday update is overdue!…a little late, but lots of news...he's 13 months today! Patrick weighed 11.75 kg on his 1st birthday – a BIG boy!! He cruises, walks pushing his push toy around, he mimics everything you say. He says banana, bye bye, ‘wala na’, night night, gives you kisses. If you give him a brush, he brushes his hair, and brushes his teeth with a toothbrush…he knows what lots of items are used for and will do it. He has 7 teeth, eats everything (but no meat) and LOVES pasta, and still nurses many times a day (about 4). He sleeps 9 to 5, wakes up to nurse a bit, then sleeps again till 8-9.

He is ok with everyone once he has studied their face thoroughly and then he’ll put on a show for everyone: clapping hands, spinning around on his butt…. He loves anything that flies and will point at it and yell for it (he used to point with his thumb, but has now started pointing with his pointer finger). Patrick is also very dextrous, he has never let anyone spoon feed him, he only wants to feed himself and has been doing it since he started eating regular food around 10 months (he skipped the mushy stuff, it never appealed to him), and now he has just started using a spoon and fork. After his nap, he can now get off the bed and come crawling to find me. He is standing a bit on his wn, but he seems totally happy with crawling now, no interest in homo sapiens stuff.

He is so much fun to be around, playful and sweet and really, really tiring! ;)

For his birthday we had a small party with close friends, pictures are here .

May recap and more

CIMG0976 We had a crazy busy May! We attempted to go to Pandan IMG_1287 Island with a group of friends, but our plans were typhooned out....we did succeed later and had a great weekend ! The kids were on summer vacation so they attended a variety of camps: drama, hip hop, cooking, swimming...not a minute was wasted idling around! Lots of IMG_1378 fun was had at art exhibits, social and cultural outings (Pahiyas), happy hours, parties,....as for 'sad fun', we had our despedidas (farewell party) - on for the kids and one for the adults...all documented here, by 818 pictures! Patrick is 10 months!

IMG_0670 Patrick is (a little over) 10 months! I thought he deserved a little update! He is doing just great and couldn't be more fun! He now has 6 teeth, with 2 more that have been trying to poke through for a while now.
He totally skipped baby foods, he is now eating regular food: brown rice, steamed veggies, fruit....and eating lots of everything! He's still breastfeeding often. He is about 25 lbs now! IMG_0770
He just started crawling properly (he used to just do it army style) but he does only to get something he really loves. He's pulling himself up and he really wants you to hold his hands and help him walk, he hates it when you sit him down. With strangers he's funny, he doesn't smile easily but has a very serious look and studies faces very intently. He notices if I wear glasses on my head, a shower cap or anything unusual and wants to take it off.
He claps his hands (if you ask him to in English, Italian and Tagalog!) and waves bye bye.
I took pix of him yesterday when he fell in love with a hole....
